in boston a week ago in defeat. today we finally heard from him. but i guess we wish we hadn't. the new york times reports on a 20-minute conference call he held today with his national finance committee. during the call he blamed the loss on president obama's gifts to minorities and young voters. the times says, quote, mr. romney said the president had followed the old playbook of wooing specific interest groups, especially the african-american community, the his panic community, and young people. mr. romney explained, with targeted gifts and initiatives. in each case they were very generous in what they gave to those groups, mr. romney said. our strategy worked well with many people. but for those who were given a specific gift, if you will, our strategy did not work terribly well. he thinks he lost because of so-called gifts? this shows just how clueless he is. joining me now is dr. james peterson, professor at lehigh university and a contributor to the grio.com. let's bring back in nia malika henderson of the washington post. thank you for joining me. >> thanks, rev. >> starting with you

. 70s and 80s in florida. but still chilly up in to boston 46 degrees. it's all about the rain, though. it's moving onshore. heavy rain at that, through california. and actually a series of storms will bring days and days of rain with several inches of rain each day possible through the west coast. but look at the eastern half of the country, from the plains, all the way down into the southeast, up to the northeast, we are looking for a good deal of sunshine. but a closer look at some of the rain across san francisco, moving up into northern california. we will see pockets of heavy rain, and also some mountain snow. we could see several inches of mountain snow out that way through the course of the weekend, and into early next week. but across the east coast, we are going to see a lot of sunshine, temperatures topping out in the lower 50s, and then for your sunday forecast, basically a carbon copy of today, still pretty nice across the eastern half of the country, and still dealing with more heavy rains out west. alex? >> okay, dylan dreyer, many thanks for that. >>> beating the deadli

island, and for atlantic city, places like boston, generally speaking, we're starting out as rain, and maybe a rain/snow mix. and then we're looking at it changing over to all rain. well, the frontal system is making its way towards the eastern seaboard, computer models probably overdoing the snowfall just a little bit. i think if anything, a half inch or an inch. but we're not looking at big, sick amounts. however quite a different story back across texas into louisiana and arkansas, with a chance for some hail. strong winds. and possibility of some tornadoes going into the afternoon. this is going to be an afternoon event, and the rest is just slight across this region. in new york, those readings will be in the 40s today. but for new york city, on tuesday, only into the 30s. and then we see this slow upward tick as far as the temperatures go. so, john, it looks like it's going to be fairly messy for people who are going to try to still be recovering from superstorm sandy. >> starting when, karen, was that? >> this will be on tuesday. it will start tonight, and going into tuesda
